Passive Income: How I Make $1000 Per Month

Several months ago, I launched my Redbubble shop, and I already have more than 600 designs available.

Perhaps you’re curious about the revenue generated with my 600 RedBubble designs.

Selling stickers on Redbubble brings in about $1,000 each month for me. Without having to promote or maintain my shop, I was able to churn out enough stickers in minutes to make a full-time salary every month.

To be honest, only 50 of the 600 designs are profitable, with eight of them generating the most revenue month after month. The majority are t-shirts and sweatshirts, with others being stickers.

As a result of discovering the full potential of print on demand, I plan to open five additional stores and try to carve out a niche in the most popular categories in order to make even more money.

If you earn more than $20 each month, Redbubble will pay you on the 15th of each month. You have the option of receiving money via PayPal or direct bank deposit.

You may make even more money by starting a Teepublic shop and selling the same designs that you sell on Redbubble there as well.

Without putting in any additional effort, you may double your revenue using this strategy.

Print on demand is how I make $1,000 a month, and the best part is that you don’t need any graphic design knowledge to start earning passive money with print on demand.

Every single part of your business is based on the amount of time and effort you put into it; if you publish 2000 designs to Redbubble, you may expect to earn more than $5,000 each month just by posting photographs.

To cover a larger geographic area and offer a larger number of clients, you can extend your business by building new locations in other categories.

What Is Redbubble and How Does It Work?

You may customize your work on over 80 different products when you post it to Redbubble.

You have complete control over your pricing because you choose which things to offer and set your own artist margin.

When a buyer buys one of your products, Redbubble takes care of production, shipping, and customer service so you can focus on what you do best: creating wonderful art!

Opening a shop and selling your art is absolutely free, and you can keep track of your earnings on your Dashboard.

Customizing Your Store

In your Account Settings, you can change the look of your shop. Click on your avatar in the top right corner of any page to access these options.

They’re also accessible from your Dashboard’s menu.

Include a bio

Customers are eager to support independent artists, so take advantage of this opportunity to connect.

A good bio should entice them to look around your shop, like your work, and follow you on social media.

Your bio should provide a high-level overview of yourself, the type of work you do, the issues or themes you’re enthusiastic about, and the tools and approaches you employ.

Create an avatar and a cover photo.

Customers can infer a lot about what they’ll find inside your store by looking at it.

Your avatar and cover photographs are your opportunity to impress clients and entice them to browse and eventually buy from you.

Consistency between the artworks they’ll see in your shop and the profile and cover photographs is generally beneficial.

The dimensions of the cover image are 2400 px wide by 600 px height, and it can be in JPEG or PNG format.

We recommend using a 100 × 100 px image for your avatar.

Include social media links

If new fans and consumers see your profile and like what you do, make it as easy as possible for them to find and follow you elsewhere by include your social media connections.

It’s a fantastic approach to grow an audience and will aid in the promotion of your work.

Filling out your bio and including social links can improve your chances of getting featured on Redbubble’s homepage, social media accounts, or marketing emails.

Include some products

When you’re first starting off, we recommend uploading at least five artworks, and 25 during the first month!

Adding all of your artwork and making those designs available on a variety of products instantly establishes your shop and provides customers with a variety of products and designs to choose from.

Pay special attention to how your artwork is placed on each product to ensure that it looks fantastic.

Avoid designs with white edges or that are badly cropped. To alter the positioning, you may need to go back and update your work.

We have a full area in our Help Center dedicated to uploading, so we’ll simply go through the essentials here to get you started. So, to get you started, we’ll only go over the essentials.

Click on your avatar (top right of any page) and select ‘Add New Work’ to start creating your first products.

Choose a JPEG, GIF, or PNG file to upload to all products.

Set a title, add a description, add your artwork to numerous goods, alter the positioning, disable or enable products, choose a backdrop color, manage tags, and choose the default product that will display in your shop from this page.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your work when you’re finished. It’s that simple!

Add Tags

Tags are the secret to your work being discovered through Google, Redbubble, and other search engines.

To put it simply: tagging your work well is how you’ll make sales. To give your work the best chance of being seen, choose around 15 relevant tags.

The secret is to choose simple, relevant, and descriptive words that potential customers are likely to search for. Don’t be tempted to tag spam.

You may think adding as many tags as possible will increase your visibility, but it can have the opposite effect on your search ranking. See Redbubble Tagging 101 for more tips.

Examine Your Costs

Each item has a base pricing that includes Redbubble’s service fee as well as the cost of production.

Artists can specify a percentage markup, also known as a ‘artist margin.’ The margin is set to 20% by default, but you can change it to whatever amount you like for each product.

To change the artist margins for each of your products, go to your Dashboard and click on product price. This article goes about pricing in greater depth.

Pro Tip: The most successful Redbubble artists are always updating their portfolios with fresh work.

Each month, we recommend introducing four or more new designs. Keep things interesting by releasing new artworks every week and informing your followers on social media about your latest ideas and items.

Use Trends and Customer Insights

Trending themes can be a terrific approach to discover inspiration and attract new audiences while you’re generating new work and thinking about promoting your Redbubble shop.

It’s a good idea to ask yourself a few questions before you begin the creation process.

  • Who am I designing this for?
  • What products are they most likely to be interested in?
  • What are the file sizes and dimensions for those products?
  • Is there an audience I can share this with on social?
  • Are there any popular hashtags I can use to market my work and reach new people?

We’re big advocates of finding trends that compliment your own style and passions.

Successfully combining business and creativity means creating with an audience in mind, and some idea of how you’re going to reach them. Here are some useful resources for research:

  • Browse sites like Pinterest and Instagram to see what’s popular
  • Use Google Trends to compare traffic volumes for different search terms
  • Visit retail stores to see what colors, patterns and themes are big this season

It’s also a good idea to have a poke around Redbubble. Put yourself in the customer’s shoes.

Go looking for something that speaks to you. See what other artists are creating. What styles pop up.
